About Form 12BB Declarations
Form 12BB is the formal declaration form that salaried individuals in India must submit to their employers toward the end of every financial year. Introduced by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) under Rule 26C of the Income Tax Rules, Form 12BB acts as proof of investment and expenditure claims.
This document is crucial because it allows your company's payroll department to adjust the Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) on your monthly salary. Without a signed Form 12BB and supporting documents (like monthly rent receipts, landlord PAN copy, or home loan certificates), employers are legally bound to deduct tax at the maximum slab rate based on your gross income.
Complete Data Security: Form 12BB contains sensitive information, including your full name, PAN, financial investment figures, and landlord details. HRA Kit compiles your PDF files directly on your local device. We do not use remote backend servers to generate files—everything is compiled locally via WebAssembly, keeping your tax data completely private.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Form 12BB and is it mandatory?
Form 12BB is the statutory declaration statement required under Rule 26C of the Income Tax Rules. Salaried employees in India must submit Form 12BB to their employers at the end of the financial year to claim tax deductions on HRA, LTC, home loan interest, and Chapter VI-A investments (80C, 80D, etc.). It is mandatory if you want your employer to compute your monthly tax deduction at source (TDS) correctly.
Can I submit Form 12BB without a landlord PAN?
You can skip the landlord's PAN only if your total rent paid during the financial year does not exceed ₹1,00,000. If your annual rent exceeds ₹1,00,000, declaring the landlord's PAN is a statutory requirement, and your employer's payroll team will reject the claim without it.
What happens if I miss the company's Form 12BB deadline?
If you miss the deadline set by your company (usually in January or February), the employer will compute your final TDS without applying any tax exemptions, resulting in a higher tax deduction and lower take-home pay for March. However, you can still claim the HRA and other deductions directly when you file your Income Tax Return (ITR) in July to receive a refund for the excess TDS.
